Psalm 1:1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHow blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When we hear the term \u201cblessed\u201d most of the time we equate it with material wealth and physical wellness. Though this is a legitimate mark of blessings from the Lord, we forget that being \u201cblessed\u201d is not just about material things and physical wellness but more about spiritual and moral uprightness before the LORD our God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this wonderful poem. The psalmist shows us one major point in different wordings. This major point teaches us that a \u201cman who does not compromise his faith in God is a blessed man.\u201d In other words, you are favorable and pleasing in the eyes of God if you are a man of courage and integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notice how the psalmist says the same thing in different wording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cdoes not walk<\/strong> in the counsel<\/strong> of the wicked<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cstand<\/strong> in the path<\/strong> of sinners<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201csit<\/strong> in the seat<\/strong> of scoffers<\/strong>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The words \u201cwalk,\u201d \u201cstand,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and \u201csit\u201d<\/em><\/strong> are actions that are used in a negative way that reflect acceptance and living into ungodliness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While \u201ccounsel,\u201d \u201cpath,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and \u201cseat\u201d<\/em><\/strong> portray the presence, fellowship, company, and relationship between the man and the sinners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the \u201cwicked,\u201d \u201csinners,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> and \u201cscoffers\u201d<\/em><\/strong> are synonymous words that reveal the ungodly person, life, spiritual condition, and attitude hated by God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, a man who gives into the practice of these people hated by God will not only be corrupted and become wicked but also will be hated and cursed by God. These groups of people are constantly piling sins and unrighteousness before the holy God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am sure you do not want to be part of this group. Good news, God is good, there is a way to be separated from the wicked and that is by turning your back from wickedness to God Himself in Christ Jesus. It is only through Christ, by His grace, faith in Him, and repentance from our sins that we can be pleasing to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our blessedness is not based on our good intentions and actions but our relationship with God in Christ \u201chis delight is in God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
