Proverbs 1:7

“The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; Ignorant fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

Indeed, knowledge is everywhere. You can gain knowledge about something when you study that something. For example, if you want to be knowledgeable in cooking, good news, there are plenty of cooking books that you can get out there to inform you. Internet is a quick place, to begin with. YouTube tutorials are free as well.

But when it comes to the knowledge that can transform man’s character, renews the mind, and reborn souls, what I have said earlier about knowledge is nothing but short and futile compared to the knowledge of God.

There are a lot of knowledgeable people. They are experts in their own chosen fields. But many of them do not have the fear of Yahweh. This might be hard to accept, but according to the scripture, they are ignorant fools who despise wisdom and discipline.

True and eternal knowledge comes from God and from fearing God. It comes from His divine, living, eternal, and infallible word called Bible which is inspired by the Spirit. This type of knowledge opens our minds to the meaning of life and calls us to respond accordingly to what God wants us to do.

This knowledge purifies our hearts and thoughts so that our life and practice will be pleasing to the One who created us – Yahweh.

We don’t have true knowledge if we do not know God even if we have Doctorate degrees. To fear God is to know God. This is the key to attaining true knowledge, “fear Yahweh” and not anyone else. To fear God means to reverently honor, accept and believe who God is.

A humble fear before the Lord will put us in the right posture not only in this short life but in how we serve others and serve God in all areas of our life and expertise. The fear of Yahweh teaches us how to live rightly and well for the sake of others, for our joy, and for God’s glory.

Do you fear God? Do you want transformative and life-changing knowledge? Come to the Lord, and fear Yahweh. In Jesus’ name Amen.
