Proverbs 3:35

“The wise will inherit honor, but fools display dishonor.”

If we are going to look back on our pasts, especially those who are older and had enough experience in this roller coaster ride called life, we will see that some decisions and actions cause honor and dishonor to us and our loved ones. The reason was that we made poor actions and foolish judgments while on the other hand, we received honor and praise for our prudent choices.

This shows the contrast of consequences between a person’s wise and foolish actions. Indeed, this is a universal reality for all of us that a wise man will be honored, and the fools reap shame. Perhaps you are asking, “well not all wise action brings honor, and not all foolish gain disgrace.”

Though this is also true from a human perfective because for most people, what is foolish in the sight of God is wise to man, and what is wise in the Lord is ridiculous for fools. Thus, makes this passage seems to be not accurate and unreliable for those who do not God’s word and has no relationship with Him.

But for those who love God, everything is under God’s lens. In the perspective of the LORD, every righteous and goldy deed promotes wisdom, and all ungodly and unjust actions are detestable to Him.

Only God sets what and who is wise or foolish. It is His divine revelation (Bible) that sets the standard for what is true wisdom and not.

Therefore, in God’s perspective, a wise man will always be honored before God regardless of people’s rejections and negative comments, and a foolish man will always be dishonored and unacceptable before God even if people favor him.

In short, a path toward honor is a path toward God’s will and the opposite path is a disgrace.

Doing the will of God certainly is not popular in the world. But who cares, what matters is what God will say to us as His followers and children. God honors the man who honors His word.

This will reveal our hearts and mind and spirit. You must decide which path you want to take, an honorable or dishonorable path. A wise or foolish life?

Choose to be wise, choose God and His ways. Choose the Way, the Truth, and the Life, choose Christ (Jn.14:6). Amen.
