Psalm 37:5
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”
The idea of commitment in the bible is like giving one’s heart, mind, and desire to something. It is giving full attention to it. Therefore, when we say, “commit it to the Lord” it bears the idea of “giving it to the Lord wholeheartedly.” Trusting the Lord is also a way of committing our actions and desires to God.
We cannot say “we commit it to the Lord without trusting Him or trusting His ways.” Trust is proven by committing everything to the Lord. It is giving up everything into God’s hands with hope for His response whether “yes” or “no”.
It is undeniable that oftentimes, we do not commit our ways to the Lord because we think we know what is best for us. We neither come to God nor consult His wisdom in prayer and word due to our arrogance and pride.
Our plans and ways must be committed to the Lord because we are commanded to do so. Further, the Lord knows better that’s why we can trust His ways and promises. His act may not be immediate and evident nor precisely what we want to happen, but one thing is certain God will act according to His own time, will, and word for us.
He is not sleeping like others think which is a sign of distrust and unbelief. Do not lose hope, God is listening and watching. Let’s come to God and give everything into His hands. Give it to the Lord, entrust your life to Him and He will act for your sake and His name’s sake.
What are your inhibitions for not giving everything to the Lord? The Lord is listening now, call to Him in prayer.
