Psalm 46:1
“God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.”
Troubles in life are not uncommon. As we grow old, we become more aware of the reality of different kinds of troubles, trials, and sufferings. This is true since the fall of Adam and Eve. No wonder even if you do not ask for trouble, it will definitely come to you.
Troubles may come in various forms, contours, and images. It can be our pride, false humility, personal garbage, unhealthy ambitions in life, and frustration with the family and marriage. Sometimes, it knocks on our households trying to come in to ruin our family. It can sneak into the windows of our ministries and marriages. Unknowingly, troubles manage to crawl inside our garments and go under our skins to destroy us and our loved ones. It happens to all of us.
But despite our given troubles in life, the Bible tells us where to go and to whom we must run in full confidence and dependence and that is God. It says here, “God is our refuge, strength, and helper…”
In times of trouble, God is always able to be our safe space and shelter, in His arms we are secure and protected. In times of weakness, God is able to sustain us, and He is the source of strength to do what we need to do for Him. And when we don’t know what to do, God helps. He gives us anything that we need to prove to us that He is present for us whether in family matters, ministerial challenges, marriage conflicts, or personal trials.
Come to the Lord now. God is able and God is available for us in times of trouble.
