Proverbs 4:6-9
“Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you…”
The Bible never fails to teach us and instruct us that wisdom is a treasure to be sought after. Here, once again, the father kept reminding his son that treat wisdom as if it is a person, a lovely woman to be a lifetime partner.
We can see here how we must treat wisdom in our life and that is to embrace her and love her. In return, it is said that this wisdom we love and protect will also keep us and guard us against harm. In other words, once we value wisdom from God, from His word and experiences allowed by God, we can be careful enough to choose what’s better or best for us.
With wisdom from God, we can understand what is happening around us, discern what is good or bad, and avoid the things that can destroy us and are detrimental to our well-being and relationship with our LORD and God.
“Prize her” and “acquire wisdom,” the wise father said to his son. Make effort to gain understanding and apply it to our lives to test it and solidify it.
But the most important thing about acquiring wisdom is that wisdom brings us closer to us if this wisdom comes from God. That is the true mark of true wisdom, it brings us closer and closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. In short, the wisdom that comes from God is the hands of God that protect us and guide us from this challenging life.
Do you want to have wisdom? Come to Jesus, come to the LORD today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
