Proverbs 2:6

“For Yahweh gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and discernment.”

Many of us seek wisdom from the wrong sources. Many believe that our experiences in life give wisdom to us which I think is universally accepted. However, not all experiences in life produce wisdom. Many of our experiences create resentment, and a negative mindset and often dimmed our vision to see the truth clearer. Therefore, the notion that “experience is the best teacher” is not always correct.

The Bible is clear that wisdom comes from the truth and God is the truth. God is the source of wisdom or true wisdom – to be more precise.

He gives wisdom through His mouth which metaphorically means through His words or instructions. Certainly, we cannot hear God speaking in an audible voice today unlike what Moses experienced at the burning bush (Exo. 3:1-4:23).

God never fails to offer us wisdom through His word. In His word we can find the truth, we rediscover the truths about God, about our true nature which is wretched, and the way of salvation which is in Christ Jesus alone and not by our strength.

Knowledge is everywhere, but true knowledge and discernment come from God alone. With these, we can live a life that is pleasing and right in the sight of God.

This is not about being a genius in a certain field. We can be the smartest man on the planet but fail to understand the purpose and meaning of life. We can be the best astrophysicist or a master of quantum physics and yet still cannot see the reality of God’s existence who created all things.

To have wisdom, knowledge, and understanding from God, is to know and believe in Yahweh. This will translate into our work, ministry, faith, life, and practice. A man of wisdom honors and obeys God, he grows in humility and aims for excellence both in his ventures whatever is pleasing to God, and for the sake of other people.

The evidence of true wisdom is measured by adherence to the teachings of God’s words and the acceptance of God’s existence and
